Here they explain why... |
|
|
"Neurological disorders affect everyone, without discrimination on the basis of age, race, or social status.
I therefore hoped that my support would attract the public's attention to the need to see a research and treatment centre of this nature established."
Luc Besson, film director

« First and foremost, I was attracted by the incredible team of highly generous and determined individuals who developed the concept of such a worthy institute.
Secondly, I was impressed by both the scope and importance of such a research centre, and thirdly, I felt I could make a modest contribution to ensure that the institute will
soon be a reality and make a real difference to those who are afflicted with a wide range of ills in France and elsewhere in the world. »
Louis
Camilleri, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of
Altria Group, Inc

« The ICM project is an unselfish idea communicated by a group of friends working together for its success. However,
this human venture will not succeed unless we are able to bring in thousands of people to support the project. What I am trying to contribute to the team is
my modest experience in bringing people together and making partners of the various organisations that potentially have a role to play: government departments, regional authorities,
the city of Paris, universities, the Paris Public Hospital Authority, the public works funding body, and the major research institutions. »
Jean
Glavany, former minister

« The number and complexity of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord and nervous system is increasing. An important initiative was needed to bring researchers together
in a major project. This has been achieved with the ICM, which is probably the greatest initiative in medical research for half a century, involving exceptionally dedicated and highly
qualified men of talent. »
Maurice
Lévy, Chairman of the Publicis Group Board

« A lawyer is by nature interested in others, and who puts his energy and knowledge at the service of causes to which he is committed. With the ICM,
I was lucky enough to meet exceptional people working together on a common project and a great cause. So, yes, I am happy to be personally involved and to
contribute to it the support and expertise of my firm. I am proud to be making this contribution to the creation and success of the ICM. »

« The FIA Foundation has decided to support the ICM, because , unfortunately, the most serious traumas related to road accidents are injuries to the spinal
cord and brain. Furthermore, this type of accident is still too frequent, and the research undertaken by the ICM will make it possible to develop effective means
to treat these types of injuries. Support for this endeavour coincides with the aims of our international road safety campaign. »
Max
Mosley, former Chairman of the FIA

« ICM has been created by a team of exceptional researchers and I am very proud to lend my support to this magnificent endeavour.
My professional life has been full of economic and sport-realated challenges. After a life of satisfactions, I now wantmake an active contribution to this
important challenge for public health. »

Owen Jones, President of l’Oréal

« At first I supported the ICM for personal reasons, notably my relationship with Jean Todt and Professor Saillant, whom I trusted 100%. This was and still is very important to me.
Their idea of creating a centre of science, knowledge and care was fascinating to me. I felt that those of us who have been privileged are obligated to care for others,
especially those who suffer, and thus to contribute to the success of the project. At first financial, my role is now to use my reputation and contacts to incite other potential
sponsors to join us in supporting this wonderful idea. »
Michael Schumacher, Formula One Pilot

« Throughout my career, I have had the good fortune to meet extraordinary people, one of whom is Professor Gérard Saillant. Together, we felt the need to do something to help others.
We accordingly brought together people from a variety of backgrounds, but who wanted to become personally involved in creating a research centre for brain and spinal cord disorders,
a field where tremendous progress can be made. “We are all aware of the ambition of this project and the obstacles to be overcome . We are even more aware, however, of the
tremendous hope it represents. I am convinced that with our ‘dream team’ and the support of everyone who will agree to help us, the ICM will very quickly become a reality. »
Jean Todt, Chairman of the FIA

« Brain disorders affect a growing number of people. This is a major issue for the future of society. By contributing to this exemplary projet,
which involves close collaboration between the public and private sectors, by being a member of a team of scientists, captains of industry and well-known personalities,
and by assisting the ICM financially, I feel that I am being useful. »
